Former USC QB Jaxson Dart named Davey O’Brien candidate, hopes to finish 2023 with a flourish

It’s the home stretch for Dart, a final chance to make a big impression at Ole Miss.

Ole Miss Rebels quarterback and former USC Trojan Jaxson Dart was named as one of the 35 quarterbacks on the Davey O’Brien Class of 2023 on Tuesday by the Davey O’Brien Foundation.

Every quarterback included in the class is officially a candidate to receive the 2023 Davey O’Brien Trophy, which is awarded annually to the No. 1 quarterback in the nation, and is the oldest and most prestigious quarterback award in college football.

The Utah native and former Gatorade National Player of The Year has thrown for 2,080 yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions through eight games, with a 7-1 record this season. Dart has also rushed for 326 yards and seven touchdowns on 85 carries leading the Rebs to a No.10 overall ranking.

Dart is leading an Ole Miss offense that currently ranks third in the SEC in both scoring (38.9 points per game) and total offense (474 yards per game).

Dart, along with current USC quarterback Caleb Williams, has also landed on the watch lists for the Maxwell, Manning and Johnny Unitas Awards. Dart hopes for a big game against Texas A&M on Saturday, November 4.
