Former USC basketball star Nick Young talks with Gilbert Arenas on hoops and more

Nick Young talks ball and beyond. Swaggy P has plenty to reflect on.

Nick Young might be most remembered for his reaction to a shot which did not go through the basket. He is a player who created many comedic moments on and off the court. Purely within popular culture, a lot of younger basketball fans remember Nick Young for the times when he wasn’t at his best. However, when you get past those funny moments, Nick Young had a very respectable, productive, and lucrative career.

In a review of USC NBA draft picks in the 21st century, published a few years ago, we noted that “Swaggy P averaged 11.4 points per game over a decade long career in the NBA, mostly with the Wizards and Lakers.”

USC has sent a steady stream of players to the NBA over the past several years, with Jordan McLaughlin, Chimezie Metu, Onyeka Okongwu, the Mobley brothers, and others making their way to the pro game. Isaiah Collier should be a lottery pick in 2024, and Boogie Ellis should definitely get drafted. Kobe Johnson might have a chance to get drafted, but if he isn’t, he should certainly get some tryouts and a possible chance to get a two-way contract. Nick Young is part of a larger story of NBA success coming from USC.
