Former UNC guard Caleb Love decommits from Michigan

Former UNC basketball guard Caleb Love has decommitted from Michigan and is back in the transfer portal.

Former North Carolina basketball standout Caleb Love is back in the transfer portal.

Just over a month after Love committed to Michigan out of the portal, he will not enroll at the university and instead have to find a new home. Multiple reports on Wednesday are stating that Love will not head to Michigan and instead re-open his recruitment. This comes after weeks of speculation that something was brewing with the situation.

ESPN and multiple other sources are reporting that this is an admissions issue related to credits transferring.

The 6-foot-4 guard spent three seasons at North Carolina, committing as a five-star recruit. He averaged a career-high 16.7 points per game last season and shot 37.8 percent from the field. That came after he helped lead the Tar Heels to the national championship game in 2022.

Rumors were swirling that Love would not attend Michigan as recent as two weeks ago. The guard denied those rumors on social media but now it appears to be true.

Love will be one of the best players still left in the portal and drew interest from Missouri and Indiana before committing to Michigan.
