Former UNC guard Caleb Love commits to Michigan

Former UNC basketball guard Caleb Love has committed to Michigan after entering the transfer portal.

Another former University of North Carolina basketball player has found a new home after entering the transfer portal.

Just over a week after entering the portal, guard Caleb Love announced he’s heading to the Big Ten.

Love posted on Twitter Friday morning that he has committed to Juwan Howard and Michigan. The guard had interest from several programs and was connected to Indiana before deciding Michigan is the best place for him to continue his career.

After committing as a five-star recruit, the guard spent three seasons at North Carolina before opting to transfer after a tough junior season. Love averaged 14.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in his career.

He had a career year in 2022-23, averaging 16.7 points per game but couldn’t find consistency with his shot. Love often was forced to take tough shots with the shot clock expiring as the Tar Heels’ offense struggled with sets and execution.

Following the season, Love and his family met with Hubert Davis and it was a mutual decision to move on.
