Former UNC center Will Shaver reopens recruitment

Former UNC basketball center Will Shaver has reopened his recruitment, decommitting from Belmont.

Former North Carolina Tar Heels center Will Shaver is back in the transfer portal.

Shaver left North Carolina after the 2022-23 season, entering the portal after just one year with the program. From there, he committed to Belmont as he found a new home on April 20th. But now, a few weeks later he has changed his mind.

Shaver announced on Sunday that he is reopening his recruitment and has officially decommitted from the program. He posted a message on Twitter thanking the coaching staff and revealing that he had talks with his parents before making the decision.

The former three-star recruit committed to North Carolina and enrolled early, joining the team for the end of the 2022-23 season where they made a Final Four run. He did play sparingly this past season but suffered a foot injury in December that sidelined him for the rest of the year.
