Former UCLA guard Jrue Holiday into Eastern Conference Finals

Jrue is in the ECF.

Former UCLA Bruins guard Jrue Holiday is now in the Eastern Conference Finals with the Boston Celtics. The Celtics made quick and easy work of the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 last night at home. The Celtics won the game 113-98.

Jrue Holiday played 41 minutes as the starting point guard in the game. He scored 13 points, dished out 4 assists, and ripped down 3 rebounds. He was 5 for 9 from the field.

In the five-game series, Holiday scored 13  points per game, ripped down 4.5 rebounds, and dished out just shy of 4 assists per game.

When Holiday was traded to the Celtics in the offseason, former Boston Celtics great Paul Pierce called him the “missing piece” to the title for Boston.

“I think Jrue is a natural leader, a natural glue guy,” Pierce said. “He’s a champion. He’s respected around the league. He’ll be respected here. It’s up to the guys around him to welcome him with open arms and make him feel comfortable not only as a player but his family. I always think that’s important with new guys to just establish that comfortability amongst his teammates.

Boston will now head to the Eastern Conference Finals and host the winner of the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers series. The Celtics are the top seed in the East and will take on the Indiana Pacers after they defeated the New York Knicks in seven games.
