Former Tiger records first career sack, has best game of rookie season

A former Tiger had his first career sack and a career-high in tackles on Saturday.

Trenton Simpson hasn’t had the rookie season some fans may have expected, but the former Clemson linebacker had a career day with the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday.

In the final week of the regular season, Simpson finished with a career-high seven total tackles and had his first career sack in the Ravens’ 17-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Prior to Saturday, Simpson’s most tackles in a game was two back in November.

With his performance on Saturday, Simpson now has 13 total tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery as a rookie.

The former five-star recruit was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round at pick No. 86. He finished his career at Clemson with a laundry list of accolades, including a third-team All-ACC selection in 2022. In his three years as a Tiger, he racked up 166 total tackles, 12.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.

Simpson and the Ravens locked up the No. 1 seed in the AFC and will have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
