Former Texas A&M sophomore tight end Fernando Garza III will remain in the Lone Star State at his next home.
On Tuesday evening on X, Garza announced that the Sam Houston State University Bearkats were his choice for his “new home.” He entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Dec. 13 after three years in College Station.

Garza is 6-foot-6, 250 pounds and was a 3-star prospect coming out of Katy High School in Texas. He redshirted in 2021 and earned the Offensive Scout Team Award. Garza played in all 12 games for the Aggies in 2022, primarily on special teams. He appeared in three games this past season.
“I am beyond thankful for my time at Texas A&M,” Garza stated via X last month. “The memories I’ve made and relationships I’ve formed will stay with me forever. As I look back on my time as an Aggie, I am eternally grateful for my coaches, teammates, training staff and the 12th Man who consistently made me feel loved and supported.
“I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my journey and trust God will continue to guide me.”
The incoming redshirt junior tight end has two years of eligibility remaining in his collegiate career.
