A former Tennessee assistant coach has been hired by Georgia Tech.
Chris Weinke, who coached at Tennessee from 2018-2020 under head coach Jeremy Pruitt, has been hired as the Yellow Jackets’ quarterbacks coach.
Weinke served as the Volunteers’ running backs coach in 2018 before becoming quarterbacks coach between 2019-220.
As a player, Weinke led Florida State to a national championship in 1999. The former Florida State quarterback won the Heisman Trophy in 2000.
He was a fourth-round NFL draft pick in 2001 and was selected by the Carolina Panthers (No. 106). Weinke played for Carolina (2001-06) and San Francisco (2007) in the NFL.
Weinke served as head coach at IMG Academy (2010-14), quarterbacks coach with the Rams (2015-16) and as an analyst at Alabama (2017).
