South Carolina relieved head coach Will Muschamp of his duties in November.

The Gamecocks are looking to fill its vacant head coaching position and a former Tennessee graduate assistant is a candidate at South Carolina.

Shane Beamer is currently serving as assistant head coach and overseeing tight ends at Oklahoma. He was a graduate assistant for the Vols from 2001-03 for Phillip Fulmer.

Beamer has held his current position with the Sooners since 2018.

Prior to arriving at Oklahoma, Beamer was tight ends coach and also oversaw special teams at Georgia (2016-17). He also coached running backs for his father, Frank Beamer, at Virginia Tech (2011-15).

Beamer has a history coaching at South Carolina, serving as the Gamecocks’ cornerbacks coach (2007-08) and overseeing linebackers and special teams (2009-10) for Steve Spurrier.

He also spent three seasons (2004-06) coaching cornerbacks at Mississippi State.

Beamer played wide receiver and was a long snapper at Virginia Tech (1995-99).
