The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the 15 modern-era finalists for the 2022 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. One semifinalist who didn’t the cut if former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward.

Ward has been named a semifinalist every year since 2016 but once against comes up just a little short of the final ballot.

In terms of Steelers lore, Ward is the most dominant receiver to play for the team. He holds every major statistical receiving record. Ward played his entire career with the Steelers and is one of only 14 receivers in the NFL history to compile 1,000 receptions.

The road to the Hall of Fame isn’t going to be easy for Ward despite the numbers. The 2022 finalists already include three wide receivers, four if you include Devin Hester. Reggie Wayne, Torry Holt and Andre Johnson are all finalists and this likely played a significant role in why Ward is going to have to wait his turn.
