Former Sooner OC has Volunteers in Top 4 of USA TODAY Coaches Poll

Former Oklahoma QB and OC Josh Heupel has Tennessee in the top 4 of the USA Today AFCA Coaches Poll.

There’s a new team in the top four of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. While Oklahoma failed to receive any votes after their 52-42 win over Kansas, former Sooners offensive coordinator and national championship-winning quarterback Josh Heupel has the Tennessee Volunteers up to No. 4 after their win over Alabama.

Georgia remains the number one team in the country while Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Michigan fall in line right behind and rounding out the top four, the Tennessee Volunteers.

At No. 4 this is the highest the Volunteers have been ranked in years. They received three first-place votes in the process.

Clemson slots in at No. 5, Alabama is No. 6, followed by Ole Miss at No.7, No. 8 TCU, No. 9 Oregon, and UCLA at No. 10.

Oklahoma State Cowboys dropped to No. 11 after losing a double overtime thriller to TCU in Fort Worth.

Kansas State came in at No. 17, while Texas rose three spots to No 21. Kansas dropped out of the top 25 but received 30 votes still despite this 52-42 loss to Oklahoma.
