Former Rutgers star Isiah Pacheco reacts to NFL debut with the Kansas City Chiefs: ‘It felt like college to me”

Rutgers football alum Isiah Pacheco has a nice debut in the NFL.

Isiah Pacheco made his NFL debut on Saturday for the Kansas City Chiefs. And the former Rutgers football running back got a nice run of snaps in the preseason game, including some solid time with the starting offense.

Pacheco had two carries for six yards and a catch for five yards along with a 37-yard kickoff return in a 19-14 loss at the Chicago Bears.

Speaking with Steve Walls after the game, Pacheco said “it felt normal out there, felt confident to execute whatever the coaches wanted me to do.”

“It felt like college to me, guys are older and guys are really fast,” Pacheco said in the postgame interview with Walls.

“I felt like I was confident enough in the scheme and able to compete to the next level. It felt normal to me, coming in for rookie training camp…soaking up the coaching and being able to come out there today and execute it on the playing field.”

As fast as everything came at Pacheco in his NFL debut, one thing did feel a bit like Rutgers.

His number…his old, old number from his first season with Rutgers.

“It was definitely cool going back to the No. 10, I was the No. 10 as a freshman. It brought back the freshman vibes a little. Just the fresh guy out there, legs are fresh,” Pacheco said.

“I felt excited to do whatever coach wanted me to do.”
