Aqib Talib announced on Wednesday that he has officially retired from the NFL. The Rams were the last team he suited up for, playing 13 games for them in the last two seasons.
Los Angeles traded him to the Dolphins in 2019 after he was placed on injured reserve, but he never played for Miami and remained a free agent this offseason. Talib spent 12 years in the NFL and played for four teams, beginning his career with the Bucs as a first-round pick in 2008.
He retires with 35 interceptions and 10 touchdowns to his name, making 462 total tackles.
Here was his retirement announcement on Twitter, in which he reveals that Bill Belichick tried to convince him to play for the Patriots this season.
Much love to everybody who played a part in my career. Sorry I couldn’t join you in New England Bill! You’re welcome to come on the show!
