Former Patriots third-round draft pick announces NFL retirement at age 28

Former Patriots third-round draft pick Chase Winovich announced his NFL retirement

Chase Winovich is officially retiring from the NFL at 28 years old.

The former New England Patriots defensive end posted on social media that he was retiring from football and embarking on a new journey.

Winovich, who was recently released by the Miami Dolphins, started his NFL career after being selected out of the University of Michigan by the Patriots in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft.

He burst onto the scene with a good start right out of the gates, recording 5.5 sacks in back-to-back seasons. It was easy for him to create an immediate connection with fans, too.

Who could ever forget when he dressed up like Elsa for a “Frozen” skit with Julian Edelman?

After his time in New England, Winovich had three more pit stops with the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans and Dolphins. Much like Rob Gronkowski, Winovich has the personality to do big things outside of football if he chooses.

So the end is truly the beginning for the former Patriot.
