Former Panthers teammates react to Cam Newton signing with Patriots

Cam Newton: Former Panthers teammates react to signing with Patriots.

It always feels good to be wanted, even if you’re a millionaire professional athlete. Cam Newton has to be feeling a bit vindicated right now. After the Panthers released him in March, there were reports that Cam was “blindsided” by the move. In his Instagram posts, Newton seemed legitimately hurt by the decision, saying that the organization “gave up” on him.

Ever since, some analysts have been suggesting Newton is washed up – that his throwing shoulder is done – that he’ll never start for another team again. Well, the greatest coach in the history of the sport just proved them wrong. At the very least, Bill Belichick decided he’s willing to gamble on a potential come-back for Newton, who has reportedly agreed to the definition of a prove-it, one-year deal with the Patriots.

Some Carolina fans wrote Newton off a long time ago. Many more are happy for Newton, though and are wishing him well in New England. So are some of his former teammates. Here’s what they’re saying on Twitter.

RB Christian McCaffrey

TE Greg Olsen

RB Jonathan Stewart
