Former Panthers 3rd-round draft pick signing with Eagles

Former third-round pick Will Grier is reportedly headed to the Eagles.

Will Grier is on the move again.

As first reported by ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Saturday morning, the 28-year-old quarterback is headed to the Philadelphia Eagles. Per Schefter’s report, Grier is expected to sign a one-year deal.

The Davidson, N.C. native was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft. Grier, however, struggled to find a place with his hometown team.

He got the starting nods in the final two games of his rookie campaign, beginning with the team’s Week 16 visit to Indianapolis. Grier completed 27 of his 44 throws for 224 yards and three interceptions in the 38-6 loss to the Colts.

His next outing, which still stands as his last regular-season appearance in the NFL, wouldn’t last long. Before exiting with a foot injury, Grier completed only one of his eight passes for four yards and a pick.

Grier, who was eventually released in the summer of 2021, has since picked up stops with the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots and Los Angeles Chargers.
