After entering the transfer portal early in December, former Oregon Ducks quarterback Ty Thompson has announced his transfer destination. According to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Thompson will be transferring to the Tulane Green Wave.
Michael Pratt was the starting quarterback at Tulane, but he declared for the 2024 NFL Draft with one year of eligibility remaining, leaving an open spot for Thompson to compete for the QB1 job.
Thompson left Oregon has a fan favorite for many, thanks to the loyalty and dedication that he showed to the program over the years. As a true freshman, Thompson was the backup for transfer Anthony Brown. He spent his redshirt freshman and redshirt sophomore years as a backup to Bo Nix in Eugene. Throughout his Oregon career, Thompson completed 42-of-66 passes for 456 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. It was expected he would be in line to win the starting job for the Ducks in 2024 with Nix leaving Oregon for the NFL, but the incoming transfer of Dillon Gabriel changed things.
