Former Ohio State basketball player Granville Waiters passes away

Former Ohio State basketball player Granville Waiters passed away at the age of 60. The cause of death was not immediately available.

We have some sad news to pass along. According to a newspaper report out of Spain, Former Ohio State basketball player Granville Waiters has passed away at the age of 60.

Waiters grew up in Columbus and graduated from East High School, played for the Buckeyes from 1980-1983, and was a team captain his last season. For his career, he averaged 5.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game, and still ranks seventh in program history with 136 blocked shots. His senior season, he averaged 10.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Waiters played five seasons in the NBA but finished out his career over in Spain, playing his last season in 1989-1990. After basketball was through, Waiters worked as a financial consultant and served on the board for a charity organization that helped blaze future success for youngsters.

Following the news, several tied to Ohio State took to social media to pay their respects to Waiters.

The cause of death is unknown at this time. Rest in peace Granville. You will be missed by many.
