Another former Penn State defensive standout is officially hanging up his cleats. Tamba Hali signed a one-day contract with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday to officially retire as a Chief.

Hali spent 12 seasons with the Chiefs, the only NFL franchise Hali ever played for. Hali appeared in just five games in his final season, in 2017, The Chiefs later released Hali from their roster in March 2018.

Hali was a six-time Pro Bowl player during his NFL career and a two-time second-team All-Pro. His NFL career ended with 89.5 career sacks and 32 forced fumbles.

Of course, Penn State fans will forever remember his iconic forced fumble in 2005. Hali’s sack and forced fumble against Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith in 2005 helped Penn State score a statement victory against the Buckeyes that would eventually lead to a Big Ten title.

Hali played his college football at Penn Stae from 2002 through 2005 for former head coach Joe Paterno. Hali was a key member of a Nittany Lion defense that helped secure a Big Ten championship and a victory in the Orange Bowl over Florida State in the 2005 season. Hali recorded 11 sacks in the 2005 season and was a unanimous All-American and the Big Ten defensive lineman of the year.

Just a few weeks ago, former Penn State linebacker Sean Lee also brought a close to his NFL career. Like Hali, Lee played his entire 11-year career for one NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys.
