While the Miami Dolphins took the field on Saturday for their second preseason game of 2022, it was the first time that we got to see quarterback Tua Tagovailoa run this offense in a game scenario.
The former first-round selection only saw 13 snaps, but he was efficient with them, despite not reaching the end zone, as he completed six of his eight pass attempts for 58 yards.
Tagovailoa may have been going against backups, but he was also out there without his top two wideouts or his starting left tackle, so the playing field was a bit more balanced.
On Sunday, former NFL quarterback-turned-analyst Dan Orlovsky took to Twitter to break down one of Tagovailoa’s plays from the matchup that probably went unnoticed by many spectators.

Orlovsky credits Tagovailoa for his operation, as he bounces through his reads and moves the defense with his eyes and shoulders before checking down to tight end Mike Gesicki in space and allowing him to get the first down.
It’s a play that, in the grand scheme of things, doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal. However, it’s the patience and efficiency displayed that is promising for Miami’s quarterback.
