Former Nebraska G Bryce McGowens Leads Hornets to Summer League Win

Former Nebraska Cornhuskers guard Bryce McGowens continues to impress during summer league.

On July 13, the Charlotte Hornets defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 91-80. Former Nebraska Cornhuskers guard Bryce McGowens led the way with a team-high 24 points. McGowens was efficient shooting 7-10 from the field and 5-6 from three-point range.

Hornets’ first-round pick Mark Williams also added 12 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks in 20 minutes.

The Hornets selected McGowens with the 40th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He has looked sharp throughout the summer league.

In the Hornets’ summer league opener against the Pacers, McGowens led the team with 17 points on 6-13 shooting.

The 19-year-old guard could prove to be a steal.

If McGowens continues to impress, he could play significant minutes for the Hornets this season. The Hornets have some uncertainty at the wing positions right now. Current free agent Miles Bridges is facing domestic violence charges, and Gordon Hayward missed 33 games due to injury last season.
