Former LSU QB Joe Burrow named a captain for Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati named seven captains for the upcoming season, and all but Burrow were veterans.

Former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was celebrated for his leadership in addition to his on-field exploits during his two seasons in Baton Rouge.

Now, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft is impressing both his teammates and those above him with the Cincinnati Bengals as he was named one of the team’s captains for the upcoming season.

It’s quite the accomplishment considering Burrow wasn’t able to work with the coaches and his teammates this offseason in the midst of unprecedented circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bengals won just two games in 2019, but Burrow enters a solid situation as a rookie.

He has solid receivers to throw to with A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd both returning to action, a standout running back in Joe Mixon, and an offensive line that should be notably better than it was last year.

Burrow was officially named the starting quarterback last week, though he’s been expected to take the reins since he was originally selected by the Bengals.

Cincinnati opens the season on Sunday in their house against the Los Angeles Chargers.
