Raesjon Davis had been committed to the LSU Tigers for almost an entire year when the early signing period began on Dec. 16.
However, instead of signing with the Tigers, Davis chose to wait until February to sign. Despite the delay, there was still optimism he would land with LSU.
That optimism faded last week when Davis backed off his pledge.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound outside linebacker from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, decommitted from LSU, and signs began pointing to USC for the Golden State native.

Davis spoke to Greg Biggins of 247Sports last week and reiterated the Tigers were still in the mix.
“LSU is definitely still in it,” Davis said. “I’m open to a lot of other schools, though, and just wanted to take a step back and think everything through.”
Davis revealed he is a big USC fan, and location does matter for his college destination.
“I grew up a USC fan, and location is big for me,” Davis said. “I want my family to come see me play and at a school like USC, I know they can.”
David would have been a big addition to LSU’s 2021 class as his speed and playmaking ability are reminiscent of other former LSU linebackers such as Devin White and Patrick Queen.
If Davis does sign with USC, expect head coach Ed Orgeron to look for another linebacker to sign in February, or perhaps find an experienced one in the transfer portal.
