Former Longhorn TE Ja’Tavion Sanders Released from Hospital After Neck Injury vs. Chiefs

Former Texas Longhorn Ja’Tavion Sanders released from hospital following neck injury in game against Chiefs.

Former Texas Longhorns tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders was carted off on the field during Sunday’s Kansas City Chiefs matchup. He was taken to the hospital after being tackled and flipped onto his head while fighting for yardage following a first-half reception.

The Panthers confirmed Ja’Tavion Sanders has movement in his extremities. While bing carted off, Sanders appeared to lift up his right arm.

The Panthers confirmed that the rookie fourth-round pick out of Texas had movement in his extremities following the injury.

“He’s still under evaluation,” head coach Dave Canales told reporters after the game. “But certainly a positive sign. He’s coming back here to the facility right now [from hospital].”

Sanders was selected in the 4th round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 101st overall pick.

The Panthers return to action in Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While the team’s postseason hopes are dashed, the remainder of the season will serve as a critical evaluation period for the Panthers’ young core as they aim to build toward a brighter future.
