The Breshad Perriman experiment in New York lasted just one season after the receiver agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Lions, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Joe Douglas added Perriman last offseason to replace the speed and playmaking ability lost when he let Robby Anderson leave in free agency, but Perriman never lived up to expectations. Injuries befell the wideout early in his time with the Jets – much like throughout his career – and he finished with 30 receptions for 505 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games.
Perriman flashed his big-play potential sporadically throughout the season. He caught seven balls for 155 yards and all three of his scores in Weeks 9 and 10 with Joe Flacco at quarterback – including touchdown receptions of 50 and 49 yards. Perriman finished with fewer than 100 yards in all but one game, though, including seven games with fewer than 50 yards.
The Jets flirted with bringing Perriman back but ultimately decided to sign Corey Davis and Keelan Cole instead before Perriman picked the Lions.
