Former Jets GM throws out outlandish trade idea for Browns

Would this trade make any sense?

As we wait for the new league year, a former general manager of the New York Jets suggests a rare no-win trade that would see the Cleveland Browns sending quarterback Deshaun Watson to the New York Giants for Daniel Jones. Oh yeah, and in this scenario, the Browns are the ones kicking in an extra second round pick.

The NFL off-season is off and running and that means it’s time for some of the wildest takes to try and stay relevant in this downtime. ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum kicked off this time of year on Get Up Friday when he suggested this trade between the Browns and Giants.

Not that Watson has been great with the Browns, but to suggest Daniel Jones, whose injury history is adding up is close to him talent-wise and that Cleveland would be interested in this swap is just silly.

Not to mention the contract for Watson being virtually unmovable due to the amount of dead money against the cap. To give up an additional premium draft pick is downright laughable. The season of off-the-wall takes is officially here with free agency kicking off next month.
