Former Hog Greenlaw having groin surgery

Current 49ers, former Arkansas linebacker Dre Greenlaw out 6-8 weeks after surgery.

Dre Greenlaw returned an interception for a touchdown in the San Francisco 49ers’ season-opening victory over the Detroit Lions.

Unfortunately, he was not on the field for the next series and later headed to the locker room and did not return.

It was announced on Thursday that he would be having surgery on his groin and would be sidelined 4-6 weeks at a minimum.

Greenlaw has only missed three games in his career to this point, two of which was from a quad injury he suffered a year ago.

His 87 tackles he made as a rookie in 2019 were the fourth-most ever in franchise history, trailing only Patrick Willis, Fred Warner and Chris Borland while helping lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl.

Greenlaw played for Arkansas from 2015 to 2018. He compiled 320 tackles during those four years before being drafted in the fifth round of the 2019 draft by the 49ers.
