Former Georgia cornerback set to make preseason debut

Former UGA corner could make his preseason debut after recovering from injury and practicing.

The debut of former Georgia Bulldog corner Kamari Lassiter has been long awaited for the Houston Texans. After not playing a snap the past two preseason games due to a lingering ankle injury, he returned to training camp practice, according to Cole Thompson of Texans Wire.

He made several plays in that practice with no signs of the lingering ankle injury. Thompson notes that he could be a factor in the team’s Saturday matchup against the New York Giants, which would be his debut game.

“I’m excited to see them back out working. I think it’s more important for their teammates to see them and everyone working together and getting on the same page,” said Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Fittingly enough, he’s slated to line up against Malik Nabers, a former LSU wide receiver Lassiter played less than two years ago in the 2023 SEC Championship. While UGA won, Nabers had one of his best days as a collegiate athlete, totaling 128 yards and a touchdown on 5 receptions. Lassiter and company will look to contain Nabers this time, as the Texans play the Giants at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday.
