Former Georgia Bulldog named NFL’s highest-graded rookie in Week 1

Former UGA football defensive lineman receives PFF’s highest Week 1 grade of any rookie

Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Jalen Carter was an absolute menace in Week 1 of the NFL season. Carter, a rookie on the Philadelphia Eagles, recorded eight pressures and one sack against the New England Patriots.

As a result, Carter was Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded NFL rookie in Week 1. Carter had a grade of 92.1.

Carter slid in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. However, he found a perfect home with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have several of Carter’s former Georgia Bulldog teammates and one of the fiercest pass rushes in the NFL.

Carter played a big role in Philadelphia’s 25-20 road win over the New England Patriots. Georgia football fans can watch the Eagles on Sept. 14 at 8:15 p.m. ET when they play host to the Minnesota Vikings.

Jalen Carter will end up going down as one of the steals of the 2023 NFL draft if he keeps up this level of play.
