Former Dolphins LB retires just a week after being released

After playing three games for the Dolphins in 2023, the LB called it a career.

Just over a week ago, the Miami Dolphins announced that they’d released linebacker Chase Winovich from their practice squad with an injury settlement after he appeared in three games for the team this year.

Now, Winovich has taken to social media to announce his retirement from professional football.

Winovich, 28, was originally selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2019 draft following a career at Michigan that included two First-team All-Big Ten selections.

After spending three seasons with the Patriots, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns. He spent one year with the Browns before joining the Houston Texans this offseason, but following his release during roster cuts, he joined the Dolphins practice squad.

In 56 career games, Winovich recorded 107 tackles, 26 quarterback hits, 12 sacks, one interception and a forced fumble.
