Former Dolphins CB is the newest XFL coach

He was most recently the cornerbacks coach for Ole Miss.

With Sam Madison, Patrick Surtain and Wes Welker all joining the Miami Dolphins coaching staff this offseason, the 1990s and 2000s Dolphins have been in the news a lot recently.

Another former Dolphin got his name in the headlines on Thursday, as Terrell Buckley was tabbed as the head coach of the XFL’s new Orlando team. The team, which hasn’t had their name announced to this point, is expected to take the field in 2023 with the rest of the league.

Buckley spent six seasons with the Dolphins over two stints from 1995-99 and 2003. During those six years, he recorded 24 interceptions which is tied for the seventh-most in franchise history with William Judon.

Since retiring from the NFL back in 2005, Buckley jumped into the coaching game. He spent time with Florida State (2007-11), Akron (2012-13), Louisville (2014-15), Mississippi State (2016-19) and Ole Miss (2020-21).

Dolphins fans may not have a rooting interest in the XFL to this point, but they can not support one of their own with Buckley in Orlando.
