Former Colts’ RB Zavier Scott joins Vikings practice squad

Former Colts’ running back Zavier Scott has been signed to the Vikings’ practice squad.

Former Indianapolis Colts’ running back Zavier Scott has joined the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad following roster cutdowns.

Scott went undrafted in 2023 out of Maine and spent the bulk of his rookie season on their practice squad. He has no regular season NFL snaps. In college, Scott was a receiver who had 124 career targets in the passing game, 865 yards, and three touchdowns, along with 109 rush attempts at an impressive 6.3 yards per carry.

He put together a solid preseason performance, averaging 5.3 yards per carry on 14 attempts with one touchdown. However, Scott ultimately found himself on the back end of what became a crowded Colts’ running back room.

Of course, at the top of the depth chart is Jonathan Taylor with Trey Sermon having quickly established himself as the team’s backup. Tyler Goodson and Evan Hull were battling for the third running back role, a competition that Goodson won, putting Hull on the practice squad.

On the Vikings 53-man roster at the running back position is Aaron Jones and Ty Chandler. On the practice squad is Scott along with Myles Gaskin.
