Former Clemson football quarterback and fan favorite Chase Brice recently threw his first touchdown pass as a professional while playing for the BC Lions in the CFL. Brice avoided pressure in the backfield and connected with his running back for a 24-yard touchdown during the fourth quarter against the Toronto Argonauts on September 13. Interestingly, that game also featured another former Clemson quarterback, Chad Kelly, on the opposing team.

Brice played for Clemson from 2017-19, graduating in 2020 before transferring to Duke. During the 2020 season at Duke, he threw for 2,170 yards and 10 touchdowns in 11 starts. He later transferred to Appalachian State, where he played his final two years of eligibility. In 2021, Brice set the single-season school passing record with 3,337 yards and was named Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year. In 2022, he completed 62.9 percent of his passes for 2,921 yards and 27 touchdowns, helping the Mountaineers upset No. 6 Texas A&M.

Throughout his college career, Brice completed 60 percent of his passes for 9,451 yards, tallying 73 touchdowns and 36 interceptions. During his time at Clemson, he threw for 1,023 yards with nine touchdowns and four interceptions in 25 games. He played a pivotal role in Clemson’s 2018 national championship run, stepping in during a comeback victory against Syracuse to maintain the Tigers’ undefeated season.
