Free agent cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick didn’t sign with a team last year until joining the Arizona Cardinals after the start of training camp. It came after Robert Alford got injured.
He could sign with a team much earlier this offseason.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kirkpatrick visited the New England Patriots Thursday.
Former #Bengals and #AZCardinals CB Dre Kirkpatrick is visiting the #Patriots today, source said. A potential landing spot for the former #Bama first-rounder. If there is one thing Bill Belichick loves, its ex-Bama stars…

Kirkpatrick appeared in 14 games last season for the Cardinals, starting 11 of them.
He had 56 tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups last season.
His coverage stats were that he allowed 62 catches for 660 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Quarterbacks completed 66% of their passes when targeting Kirkpatrick and he allowed a passer rating of 80.1.
At this point in the offseason, it isn’t likely he will get a contract worth much more than the league minimum, but he suggested a while back that he wasn’t likely to return to the Cardinals on such a deal.
