Former Bruin Gabriel Murphy lands with Vikings after NFL Draft

Gabriel to Minnesota.

The Murphy twins were some of the most productive players UCLA has produced along the defensive line in recent history. Leading all career pressures by prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft, Gabriel and Grayson were expected to hear their names called. But neither did.

That said, both of them found a new home in the NFL, with the former Bruins’ outside linebacker Gabriel landing in Minnesota and Grayson in Miami.

Gabriel, whose performance at the Shrine Bowl turned some heads, signed with the Vikings after going undrafted. With the Vikings selecting edge defender Dallas Turner in the first round from Alabama, adding Gabriel post-draft makes sense.

Given the Vikings’ relatively young defense led by defensive coordinator Brian Flores, who is known for his exotic blitz schemes, signing another dynamic player off the edge adds depth.

To sustain a pass rush, the Vikings are throwing several prospects at the wall and seeing who sticks. UCLA fans hope that Gabriel sticks and continues to play in the league alongside his brother.
