Former Bills second-round pick, wide receiver Zay Jones, appeared on Good Morning America on Monday to share a wonderful story he first brought to light on social media.
The United States is seeing civil rights protests following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis spark across the country over the past few days. Some are turning violent and the issue has since spread to become a global one.
But during the midst of it all, Jones shared his story which caught attention. As Jones explained via his social media account on Twitter, he saw an elderly woman at a store and the two shared an emotional experience.
Here’s Jones’ explanation of the story:
i was just at a local home goods store w/ my cousin getting furniture for my place when an elderly white woman approached me at the check out counter. she looked at me w/ tears in her eyes… & then said “i’m from Minneapolis & I just want you to know “you matter to me.”

The story went so viral on social media that Jones went on the nationally televised morning show to discuss the experience. Here’s the clip of Jones appearing on GMA:

Jones was selected by the Bills in 2017 but was eventually traded to the Raiders in October for a fifth-round pick. While Jones had highs and lows while a member of the Bills, the 25-year-old was often touted as a mature individual and great teammate during his time in Buffalo, something he clearly still carries with him to this day.
