Former Bills make mark in XFL’s opening weekend

Here’s how several former Buffalo Bills fared in the opening week of XFL action.

Seattle Dragons

Wide receiver Austin Proehl, a former seventh-round pick of the Bills in 2017, made history by catching the XFL’s first touchdown pass. In addition to this moment, Proehl caught a short pass and took it to the house for a 57-yard touchdown. The North Carolina product ended the day with five catches for 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Houston Roughnecks

Wide receiver Cam Phillips. who showed some promise in the Bills training camp in 2018, started off his XFL career in style with a 50-yard touchdown bomb to open the scoring for the Houston Roughnecks. Phillips caught four catches for 67 yards in the Roughnecks victory.

St. Louis Battlehawks

Two former preseason standouts, wide receiver Brandon Reilly and running back Keith Ford, garnered limited touches in the Battlehawks’ victory. Reilly caught his lone target for 19 yards, while Ford rushed the ball four times for 26 yards and he scored in the second quarter.
