Former Auburn pitcher throwing lights out at Wrigley Field

Former Auburn pitcher Keegan Thompson shining so far this season for the Chicago Cubs.

According to the Marquee Sports Network, former Auburn pitcher and Cubs pitcher Keegan Thompson has flourished on the mound so far this season. He has pitched 21.2 innings in Wrigley Field this season. He has an astounding 0.83 ERA (earned run average) and 22 strikeouts. Overall, he is 3-0 with a 1.41 ERA.

In his time at Auburn, he had a 19-10 record with a 2.46 ERA. Thompson had his best season as a junior when he posted a 7-4 record with a solid 2.41 ERA. Following his junior season, he decided to declare for the 2017 MLB draft. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the third round.

The native of Cullman, Alabama has continued his success at the next level. In two seasons on the Cubs’ major league roster, he has a 6-3 record with a 2.64 ERA. As of right now, he leads the team in wins on the mound. He also has the lowest ERA out of all the starting pitchers on the Cubs roster. The organization hasn’t had a ton of success as they currently sit at third in the National League Central with a 15-20 record. However, the Auburn alumnus continues to bring the pain on the mound.
