Former Auburn DB waived by the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday

The former Auburn defensive back had been with the team since 2020.

On Wednesday, the Miami Dolphins announced via Twitter that they had waived former Auburn defensive back Javaris Davis. He has been on and off the roster since 2020. In 2021, he signed a reserve/futures contract with the team. However, he is now looking for a new place to call home.

Davis joined the Auburn Tigers as a part of their 2015 recruiting class. Ultimately, the Florida native chose the Tigers over both Florida and Georgia in his recruitment process. Oddly enough, Davis was recruited to be a running back. After arriving on the Plains, he would quickly make the transition to cornerback.

Over the four years that Davis played for the Tigers, he recorded 150 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and eight interceptions. After his senior season ended, he would be signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs. He would spend two months on the team’s practice squad before doing the same with the Dolphins.

The only stats that Davis recorded in an NFL game came in November of 2021 against the Carolina Panthers. He recorded two tackles in that game. It is evident that the success hasn’t translated into the league, but the Auburn faithful hopes that his career will be revitalized once he receives a new opportunity elsewhere.
