Texas Tech took to Twitter over the weekend to officially announce the addition of Chadarius Townsend to the team, but they also shared one more important detail: he will be a running back for the Red Raiders.

Townsend has played several different positions on offense. In high school, he was a standout quarterback at Tanner High School in Tanner, Alabama. For the Crimson Tide, Townsend spent time at both running back and wide receiver, and also played on special teams for two years.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Townsend was a four-star prospect, and was the No. 5 athlete and No. 7 player in the state of Alabama in the 2017 recruiting class.
Townsend played in 19 games over the past two season, six of which were i 2019.
In his career, Townsend totaled 22 yards on 8 carries.
