A former Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver will re-enter the transfer portal. Christian Leary announced he will depart the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets program on Thursday night to redshirt this season.
Leary had appeared in four games so far this season with the Yellow Jackets, hauling in three receptions for 27 yards, as well as returning two kickoffs for 35 yards.
A former four-star, Top 100 prospect in the 2021 class, Leary spent a pair of seasons at Alabama to originally begin his collegiate career back in 2021-22. Over those two seasons, Leary was primarily a reserve/special teams option for the Crimson Tide in which he had three receptions for 10 yards and a touchdown, along with three carries for 22 yards and a tackle defensively.
After the 2022 season, Leary would enter the transfer portal and has since played at Georgia Tech for the 2023-24 seasons, headlined by a breakout 2023 season. In 2023, Leary had a career-high 25 receptions for 309 yards and two touchdowns, while also leading the ACC with 21 kickoff returns, which translated to an average of 22 yards per return.
I will be utilizing my redshirt this year , and will enter as a grad transfer in December. Thank you gt nation 🙏🏾.
