Less than a week after announcing his top three potential landing spots, former Alabama forward Galin Smith announces he will be transferring to Maryland.
I would like to thank all of the coaches that took out the time to recruit and show interest in me. After many talks with God and my family I’ve been led in the direction to join Coach Turgeon and the Maryland family!🐢❤️ pic.twitter.com/IVfe2HVI2C

In the 2019-2020 season, Smith tallied 97 points, 79 total rebounds, 24 blocks and 25 turnovers in his 31 appearances.
The timing of his decision to transfer does not come as a shock to many seeing that Alabama head coach Nate Oats has been hot on the recruiting trail, earning the Crimson Tide a top-20 ranking for the 2020-2021 recruiting class.
Smith is the third Alabama player to announce he will be transferring heading into the 2020-2021 season, Raymond Hawkins and Jaylen Forbes also decided to continue playing elsewhere.
