Former Alabama basketball forward Keon Ambrose-Hylton announced his transfer to SMU today. Ambrose-Hylton eventually decided on heading to Dallas after entering the portal nearly two months ago on March 2.
Ambrose-Hylton is a lengthy 6’8″ forward from Ontario, Canada who has a lot of upside, he just could never find his role in Tuscaloosa. Through two seasons with the tide he appeared in 30 games getting about four minutes a night.
However, with the guard centric offense and up tempo style of play that Nate Oats and the Tide run with was ultimately not the right fight for Ambrose-Hylton. He will likely compete for a starting spot immediately as the Mustangs do not have a ton of depth or height.
For the tide, they have lost a couple players to the portal, some to the draft and there will be a lot of new faces for the 2022-2023 season. However, with the clip that Nate Oats has been recruiting at, Tide fans have no reason to worry.
