Former Alabama and TCU OL James Brockmeyer commits to Miami

Miami Hurricanes receive commitment from former Alabama and TCU OL James Brockmeyer.

After spending the first three years of his college career with Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide and the 2024 season with the TCU Horned Frogs, OL James Brockmeyer will spend his final year of eligibility in Coral Gables with the Miami Hurricanes. It’s a huge addition for Mario Cristobal and his staff as Brockmeyer was the transfer portal’s top-ranked IOL prospect.

Brockmeyer was predominantly a special teams player during his time in Tuscaloosa, but he made a few appearances at Center before leaving following the 2023 season. Brockmeyer’s decision to transfer proved to be wise as he started all 12 games for the Frogs this past season, while Alabama landed superstar Parker Brailsford from Washington.

The Hurricanes finished the 2024 season at 10-3 after just narrowly missing out on the playoffs. Miami was already set to return one of the better offensive lines in the country, but the addition of Brockmeyer may be enough to get them over the hump and into the playoffs. The offensive line will need to especially good in 2025 with the departure of QB Cam Ward for the upcoming NFL draft.

Miami will open up their 2025 campaign with a visit from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
