This year’s Pac-12 media day has been highly anticipated, especially with Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders expected to be there. Unfortunately, Coach Prime will be undergoing a pair of follow-up surgeries on Thursday and won’t be in attendance on Friday, per multiple reports.
Sanders recently underwent a successful procedure to fix blood clots in his legs and all signs point to him making a full recovery in time for the season to begin.
With him missing Pac-12 media day in Las Vegas, defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, who came from Alabama, will be there in his place. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way player Travis Hunter, a pair of high-profile Jackson State transfers, will also be in attendance as CU’s player reps.
Coach Prime apologized for not being able to attend but made a bold promise for the Buffs’ 2023 opener against TCU (h/t BuffZone):
“I apologize that I’m not gonna be at the Pac-12 media day due to I have to have another surgery tomorrow — a couple of surgeries — one in my leg, as well as to remove other clots,” Sanders said in a video on Instagram. “I promise you when we go to TCU (for the season opener on Sept. 2), I’m running out in front of our team. I promise you that.”
