Kaiir Elam is likely to be amongst the first selected cornerbacks at the 2022 NFL draft.
The Buffalo Bills have interest to some degree.
According to Spectrum News, Elam said via press conference at the NFL combine last week that he met with the Bills there:
Florida CB Kaiir Elam has had formal meeting with #Bills. Like many corners here, notes how great it would be to play opposite Tre’Davious White.
Elam one of CBs @Jordan_Reid told me he thinks could be good fit for BUF in rounds 1-2.

A formal meeting with the team likely means that Elam talked to some of Buffalo’s top brass at the event. Such people could include head coach Sean McDermott or general manger Brandon Beane.
While likely a high selection, Elam did not play some of his best college ball in 2021.
In 10 games played, he had one interception and five passes defended last season. Pro Football Focus also only graded him a 61.8 overall mark in their metrics.
Still, Elam is a long defender at 6-foot-2 and is a physical player… but sometimes to a fault as Elam has a bit of a penalty problem that the Bills likely discussed with him at the combine.
Physical traits like size cannot be taught, though. Because of that, Elam is still likely to be a first or second round pick, per Draft Wire.
Additionally, not all of Elam’s career numbers are below average. In 2020, he had two interceptions and 11 passes defended. PFF also graded him a much better 77.4 overall.
He also is praised for his work playing in zone defenses, just like the one the Bills run.
