Florida tennis legend will be honorary Mr. Two-Bits for Vanderbilt game

A former Florida Gators tennis national champion will be the honorary Mr. Two-Bits for the Vanderbilt game.

The Florida Gators have found their honorary Mr. Two-Bits for Saturday’s home game against the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Gators tennis legend Lauren Embree will don the yellow button-up and striped tie in the pregame festivities and lead the famous “Two-Bits” chant.

Embree was shocked when the Gators reached out.

“I was like, ‘Me? Are you sure?’ Embree questioned.

Embree is a college tennis national champion, winning it all with the Gators in 2011 and 2012. Embree finished her collegiate career with a 117-16 and is now a functional medicine nutritionist in Austin, Texas.

The former Gator wants to put her own twist on the ceremony.

“Everyone has an opinion on what I should do, but I just know I’m going to make it tennis-specific and also want to make it unique,” Embree said. “I’ll spice up the uniform a little — you have to, right? — but I’ll abide by the rules. I mean, how much can you mess it up?”

Embree will be the second-ever tennis player to lead the chant, following up another national champion, Ben Shelton, who took the duties when the Gators hosted South Florida in 2022.

Kickoff for the game between the Florida Gators and Vanderbilt Commodores is set for 4 p.m. EDT and will broadcast on the SEC Network.
