Florida sees slight improvement in KenPom rankings after beating LSU

The Gators made some slight improvements in KenPom as well as a slight slip in adjusted defense.

The regular season came to a close on a high note on Saturday night for Florida basketball, which hosted the LSU Tigers inside the O’Connell Center and ran off with a 79-67 victory over the visitors. It was the second time this year that the Gators beat the Tigers, and along with the win over the Georgia Bulldogs on Tuesday, make it two in a row heading into the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

The win gave the Orange and Blue a slight boost in the Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings, which had Florida at No. 61 prior to the game and moved it up to No. 59 following LSU’s defeat. The Gators also improved once again from our previous update in adjusted offense, getting bumped up five spots to No. 115 while the adjusted defensive measures slid down one spot to No. 30.

Next up for Florida are the Mississippi State Bulldogs, who face the Gators in Game 3 of the second round of the SEC Tournament on Thursday, March 9. The Orange and Blue hold the No. 8 seed in the tournament while MSU is seeded at No. 9. Tipoff inside Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST and can be watched on the SEC Network or heard on Gator Sports Network.
