The Florida Gators already have 22 players under commitment in its 2024 recruiting class, but Billy Napier and Co. are still looking to add a few pieces before the end of the cycle in December.
[autotag]Kam Mikell[/autotag] — a four-star cornerback that Florida likes at receiver, according to On3’s Keith Niebuhr — is one of those pieces, and the 6-foot, 180-pound athlete is showing interest in the Gators as well. Mikell told Niebuhr that he’s looking to schedule a visit with UF.
Given Napier’s recruiting history at Florida, the window for Mikell to visit is relatively small. The Gators typically shy away from in-season official visits, but waiting until December doesn’t sound promising. Mikell will be at several schools over the fall, including Colorado, Kentucky and Tennessee, so it could be easy for him to fall through the cracks.
Mikell is a four-star cornerback on On3’s industry ranking, which uses a weighted composite grade to rank all the recruits. He checks in at No. 129 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 17 among cornerbacks, but he’ll have to be reevaluated as a receiver if that’s where Florida is planning to play him.
